Cusco South Valley Tour Itinerary
On this tour we will take you to the south of the Cusco Valley, a very important place in the Inca empire. We will visit the archaeological centers of Tipón and Pikillacta, then “The Sistine Chapel of America” in Andahuaylillas
Pick up from your hotel at 08:30am. in our tourist bus heading south from Cusco. We will pass through picturesque villages and witness the typical Andean landscape. After 40 minutes we will arrive at the ruins of Tipón and we will be able to appreciate the cultivation terraces in perfect conditions of conservation and an excellent hydraulic work. Tipón is said to have been a recreation center for the upper class of the Inca empire. After the tour in Tipón we will descend towards the archaeological center of Pikillacta. It is said that in the Inca empire they served as an administrative center for the Wari culture. Then our last stop will be at the colonial church of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas. This Catholic church was built in the 17th century on the foundations of an ancient Inca temple. It has murals painted in the Baroque style and the Sistine Chapel of America is attributed to it.
