This is the short version of the Inka Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu. This is an incredible and exciting trip to Machu Picchu through bicycles and rafting (Optional). ITINERARY Inca Jungle Trail to Machu Picchu 3 Days:
DAY 1 CUSCO – SANTA MARÍA: BICYCLES (55KM) AND THE SANTA TERESA THERMAL BATHS
We will pick you up at 7:00 a.m. from your hotel and then we will go to Ollantaytambo where we will stop to have breakfast, then we will continue in our private bus for 3 hours to the starting point of the bicycles called the “Airport” on our way we will pass through the Abra Malaga 4,316 masl. At the “airport” you will receive some safety instructions from your guide and then he will provide you with the complete and necessary equipment for this activity. We will begin the descent by bicycle for 3 hours (55km) to the town of Huamanmarca, then we will go to the town of Santa María (30 minutes by car) where we will have our first lunch; then we will go in our private bus to the town of Santa Teresa where we can cool off and enjoy the thermal baths, we will spend the night in a family hostel.
DAY 2 SANTA TERESA – AGUAS CALIENTES (ZIP LINE OR CANOPY – OPTIONAL)
After our breakfast, at 7:00 a.m. approx. We will start our walk towards the town of Aguas Calientes, first we will walk for 3 hours through the Acobamba valley to the sector called Intihuatana where we will pass a small government checkpoint; then we continue to Inka Rakay where we will enjoy our lunch on this journey we will see a series of waterfalls and we will also have the opportunity to contemplate the majestic Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu mountains as well as the Intihuatana or sundial that will be seen at the top of the mountain and other constructions of the Inca citadel of Machupicchu after the last 3 hours of walking will be next to the railway line to the town of Aguas Calientes.
DAY 3 AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – RETURN TO CUSCO
On this day you will have two options to visit Machu Picchu 1) It is to continue walking for 1 hour and a half through an ascending path with several stairs until you reach the entrance of the citadel or 2) Buy your ticket of bus that has a value of 12 dollars for the ascent or 24 dollars for the ascent and the descent. Once in Machu Picchu 2,490 m you will have a guided tour of approximately 2 hours: then you will have enough time to continue exploring the citadel on your own, during which time you can go to the Inti Punku (gate of the sun)
After your visit to Machu Picchu you will have to return to the town of Aguas Calientes so that you can have lunch, you will be able to find many restaurants and you will be able to choose the one that suits you best. After your lunch you will have to go to the train station and board it for approximately 1 and 40 minutes to the Ollantaytambo station, there the transport will be waiting for you with your name and you will be transferred to the City of Cusco the trip lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes approximately.
We pick you up from your hotel at 3am, then we go to our destination which will be the community of “PACCHANTA”, which is located near the snowy “Ausangate”, which is at 4200 meters above sea level. Where we will have our breakfast, then we will start our walk with gradual ascent in the middle of the Andes mountain range to explore “beautiful 7 Lagunas Ausangate, at the beginning we will walk about 6 km. to visit the first lagoon (1:30 hrs approx.), then we will continue this fascinating adventure visiting other lagoons, It will be a 10 km route. approximately (5 hours of walking).
We will return to the community of “PACCHANTA” where we will enjoy the hot springs and our lunch, then we will return to Cusco, after this wonderful experience.

What are the accommodations like for the first two days of the tour?
The first two days, we will host you in local family houses that have been converted into hostels and banheitos, therefore they have only shared.
Physical Fitness: The Inca Jungle is certainly not easy, but you do not have to be an athlete or trekking expert to take this tour. Your physical condition is of course important since it will allow you to carry out all the activities within the tour and thus you will be able to enjoy the beautiful landscape along the way. If you don’t exercise regularly, it’s a good idea to take extra walks or some type of aerobic activity in the months leading up to your trip. Before doing the Camino, we recommend that you visit your doctor who can provide you with more information.
How long is the descent on the bikes and what is it like?
The descent on the bicycles lasts approximately 3 hours. It is important to make you aware that the downhill part of the bike can be a bit dangerous, especially if you do not have much practice in downhill cycling. If this descent is too dangerous for you, you can stay on the car until the rest of the group reaches the bottom of the descent. It should be noted that all our bicycles are in good condition and are equipped with hydraulic brakes. We provide all the safety equipment.
What activity can I do if I don’t want to go rafting?
If you are not interested in rafting, you will be taken to the place where the local residents carry out their activities and you can participate in them.
What should I wear when rafting?
You must wear bathing suits and running shoes or waterproof shoes. It is also important to bring warm clothing to wear after rafting.
How long will the rafting route last?
It will last around 2:30 hr.
Where to store your stuff?:
You can leave or store the things that you will not take on the Inca Trail at the hotel or hostel where you are staying. Most of these establishments have warehouses where they will store your things. If you do not trust the place where you are staying, we will gladly store your belongings in our office.
